A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Senior School Production Coming Soon!

This year’s Senior School production is almost here; of one of Shakespeare’s most magical plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream! A black and white world bursts into colour with dancing, disagreements and disco! Exploding with humour, this play is an example of Shakespeare’s finest poetry.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed live on Thursday, 18 March, with a professional recording of the performance including special behind the scenes footage to be made available shortly after.
This year’s production is made possible not only because of our amazing all-student cast, but this year we are also excited to introduce our first student Tech Crew. With responsibility to design, plot and run the technical and backstage elements of the performance, the Tech Crew are able to experience the thrill of a live performance, even if being under the limelight is not their preference. Confidence is developed as they witness their hard work bring the production to fruition, sharing in the satisfaction of seeing the live audience buzz.
“I wanted to join the Tech Crew because it was a new experience, and I wanted a chance to work backstage. Performing in front of people is a little intimidating for me, so this allows me to learn new skills and participate without having to get up on stage. I have found that through this opportunity, I have learnt both technical skills relating to the theatre, and how to organise myself better” – Vincent, Year 7
Our wonderful cast have been rehearsing since last year to bring to the community the very best of their talent. Year 11 student, Curtis, will be performing as the character of Demetrius after a very successful run as Duke Orsino in last year’s performance of Twelfth Night.
“For this performance, the year groups coming together to work as part of a team has been really great. I find that drama allows me to express myself in ways that I can’t necessarily do in a traditional-style lesson. I also have the chance to do this in a fun way, alongside my friends” – Curtis, Year 11
With just over a week to go, the students – both cast and Tech Crew – are working hard to ensure the Senior School production is a roaring success. We cannot wait!
