Aim High in Mathematics and Science: Celebrating Student Success

Dulwich College Shanghai is well-known for our Academic Rigour. Nowhere is this more evident than in our Mathematics and Science programmes, where students are regularly challenged to solve complex problems, think independently, and compete on global stages. Mathematics and Science are a cornerstone of academic excellence. It sharpens reasoning, develops precision, and equips students with the problem-solving skills they need to thrive in today’s world. The key to Dulwich education is that our students are challenged inside and outside the classroom.

Building on the success of our last round of Mathematics achievements, we’re proud to celebrate yet another series of outstanding results from our students - across science, maths, and interdisciplinary STEM challenges. 

CREST Silver Award - A Scientific First

A huge congratulations to Tianle G., who was awarded a Silver Medal in the prestigious CREST STEM Project Award for his scientific investigation into the purity of analgesics. He becomes the first student from our College to earn this recognition - a remarkable milestone that highlights both his independent inquiry and scientific thinking.

Shanghai International Mathematics Challenge (SIMC)

The SIMC encourages students to stretch their problem-solving skills and collaborate in teams to tackle complex, creative tasks. Representing Dulwich Puxi, two teams of Year 5 and Year 6 students competed with flair and focus.

Their results speak for themselves: 

• Jason X - 1st Place, Individual Logic | 3rd Overall Individual
• Eric W - Joint 1st Place, Individual Written
• Year 6 Team - Overall Team Competition Champions

UKMT International Mathematical Challenges

Organised by the UK Mathematics Trust, this competition is a highlight of the year for aspiring mathematicians. With questions that push even the most talented students, it’s a true test of reasoning and resilience.

Intermediate Mathematical Challenge

• 4 Gold Medals - placing in the top 8% globally
• Broadford Q scored an outstanding to earn Gold and qualify for the Cayley Mathematical Olympiad
• Annabelle R, Daniel Z, Jessica J  - each earned Silver Medals (top 16% globally)

Junior Mathematical Challenge

• Ryan J earned Gold and were named Best in School
• Albert L, Happy X and Melissa S earned Gold and were named Best in Year
• Annabelle R, Aidan H, James Z, Jason X, Jeongwon L, Phill W, Sally L and Serena W earned Gold
• Ella C earned Silver and was named Best in Year
• Brian Z, Eric W, Jayden C, Miya L, Maia W and Una Z earned Silver
• James X and Regina L earned Bronze

British Physics Olympiad

Physics is where theory meets curiosity, and our students embraced the challenge at both Intermediate and Senior levels of the British Physics Olympiad.
