Back-to-School Celebration: Community BBQ&Pool Party
Last Friday marked a special occasion at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, as we celebrated the commencement of the new academic year with the annual Welcome Back Community BBQ and Pool Party. This event wasn't just a gathering; it was a grand celebration that brought together our vibrant community, showcasing a perfect blend of delicious food, fun activities, and the warm spirit of community.
A Feast of Flavours
Our carefully curated offerings delighted every palate, serving up an array of dishes and drinks to suit diversified tastes. Highlights included:
- Global Delicacies
From shashliks and BBQ German sausages to the delightful poffertjes and French-style fried chicken, each dish was a nod to culinary traditions around the world. The addition of homemade dumplings, with vegan options available, ensured everyone enjoyed a taste of comfort.
- Kids’ Favourites
The children’s faces lit up with joy at the sight of popcorn, cotton candy, and nori, while our unique Dulwich-logo ice creams created quite a buzz, adding a sweet note to the Community Party.
A Series of Fun Activities
The activities were designed not just for fun but as an avenue for living out our school values.
- The Water Park
The pool party was the highlight for many, providing a cool respite and a chance for students to play and make a splash.
- The Thrill of Sports
HSBC’s horse-riding sessions showcased our students' adventurous spirit, blending excitement with skill in a challenging and inspiring setting. Additionally, students had the opportunity to engage in Golf, Tennis and Lacrosse, adding another dynamic of physical activities to the day.
- The Puzzle Games
The Star House events team hosted a live session of the popular role-playing game Black Myth: Wukong, where our community members battled it out and left it all on the field. Simultaneously, the chess session offered students an opportunity to sharpen their strategic thinking skills, challenging their minds in a game of intellect and foresight.
- Cultural Immersion
The DIY workshops allowed participants to delve into Chinese traditions, crafting herbal sachets and lacquer fans, each piece a testament to the rich cultural tapestry of our community.
The Welcome Back Community BBQ is an event each year where we build connections and reinforce the inclusive culture of Dulwich Puxi.
