Last Monday, Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi celebrated a significant milestone with our second annual Graduation Day for the Y13 cohort, reflecting on the journey of our graduates, sharing their inspiring stories and remarkable achievements. This event is not merely a farewell but the dawn of new adventures for our students, as they step into the next phase of their lives.

May is always an exciting time in the life of the Sixth Form, as it brings the graduation of a cohort of students who are ready to leave us and make their mark on the world. The recent graduation ceremony at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi was a wonderful celebration and, as always, a poignant reminder of why we dedicate ourselves to educating the next generation. As we bid farewell to another group of young people, we are humbled, as always by, the ideas, energy, and enthusiasm they carry with them into the world.
The graduation celebration began with our traditional end-of-exam period photo session on the Bund, followed by a celebration dinner at the Hakkasan restaurant. The meal was a wonderful way to end the exam period, bringing together the families of our students, their teachers and influences, and the students themselves – shining examples of our College's core values. Ryan and Ollie have demonstrated a commitment to aiming high, working hard, and showing kindness and respect in all their endeavours. Their achievements are a testament to the transformative power of education – and they are on the cusp of going out into the world to make a difference.
Graduation day itself was a grand affair, marked by academic gowns and heartfelt speeches. For the first time in the College's history, the iconic Alleynian walk took place outdoors, allowing the graduates to bask in the pride and admiration of their peers and loved ones. The ceremony was followed by a relaxed and informal reception, where the new graduates mingled with the year 12 students, who now eagerly await their turn to don the robes and take their place as the next cohort.
As the graduates embark on the next chapter of their lives, pursuing higher education in the UK and the US, they carry with them lessons learned from their time with us – and the knowledge that growth comes from testing yourself: "If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you." This sentiment speaks to the transformative journey these young adults have undergone, evolving from eager students to engaged global citizens who are ready to live worldwise.
Through their time at Dulwich, Ryan and Ollie have not only honed their academic prowess but have also developed a deep understanding of the world around them. They leave the College's halls equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful difference, driven by the same spirit that has propelled generations of Alleynians before them. As they take their first steps into the future, the school community looks on with pride, knowing that these young people are poised to shape the world in remarkable ways.

It was wonderful to come together as a College community to celebrate the graduation of our Year 13 students. Graduation is a milestone moment for our students and their parents. We enjoyed a fabulous evening on the Bund on Saturday, followed by The Alleynian Walk and Graduation Ceremony on Monday. We are proud of Oliver and Ryan. They have achieved well and have offers from leading universities to choose from when they get their results later this year. I am sure that everyone in our College community joins me in wishing them all the very best for a bright future.
