Dulwich College Puxi Competes in Shanghai Swim League Gala
On Sunday, 16 October the Mustangs swimming team travelled over to Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong to compete in the first Shanghai Swim League gala for this academic year. The team have been practicing extensively in our Olympic-sized swimming pool; getting back into competition form since the long break in in-person galas due to COVID-19 limitations throughout the city. There was such a positive and optimistic attitude from everyone in attendance. Our swimmers put on a fantastic display of the techniques and skills learnt during their training sessions and performed to a high standard.
Participation in competitions provides an important opportunity for students to develop their resilience and the ability to bounce back against adversity. To quote Albert Einstein, “Failure is success in progress”. Just like in academics, the arts, musical performance or team sports, in swimming students should be resilient and continue to strive to get the results they desire.
"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
- Michael Jordan, NBA Basketball Player
Our Mustang swimmers continue to demonstrate the Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi values in all they do, and embody the Mustangs Spirit of Pride, Passion, Resilience and Respect. I look forward to our next Shanghai Swim League event in November. Go Mustangs!
