Dulwich Olympiad: A Global Experience with One Family of Schools
The Dulwich Olympiad was simply a spectacular event for all our student-athletes. Last week, tackling the heat and humidity of Singapore, our Mustangs were nothing short of phenomenal as they locked horns on the athletics track, in the pool, the basketball and football pitches as well as the badminton courts. Over five days, our students played as team members alongside students from other Dulwich schools across Asia; they represented themselves in doubles badminton or in the pool in a competition that brought out the best in everyone.
Taking home nine medals or placings, our team can be super proud of their efforts. Our standout athlete, Lien, took home gold in the U13 Shot Put and badminton competition, the Plate winners in basketball and the Bowl championship in football. Olivia made the girl's 300m finals, and Ronald took overall silver in the 50m breaststroke. All of these amazing achievements are down to the hard work and efforts of the students and the exceptional guidance and support from our wonderful PE department.

The Dulwich Olympiad stands as a pinnacle event in the global school calendar, offering students a platform to excel beyond their comfort zones and contribute to a collective endeavour larger than themselves. This prestigious event encapsulates a myriad of experiences, from the grandeur of the opening ceremony to the camaraderie fostered during shared challenges and the memorable moments that shape students' growth and resilience. The past week has provided challenges, opportunities and many, many highlights. These are the experiences that students draw upon when they leave home to go to university.
Sports: Unity in Diversity
Students have braved the heat to compete in a wide range of sports from badminton to basketball and swimming to soccer. I was proud to cheer them on from the sidelines. The Mustangs not only showcased their athletic prowess but also their ability to unite as a team, navigating both victories and setbacks with resilience and teamwork across various sports disciplines like badminton, basketball, swimming, and soccer. The emphasis on collective effort and sportsmanship exemplified the true spirit of the event.
Music: Harmonious Collaboration
Music highlights included Tuesday lunchtime’s London Musical Showcase at the Alleyn Theatre Wednesday evening’s Musical Showcase in the Greenhouse Auditorium and Friday afternoon’s extraordinary Gala Concert in the Alleyn Theatre. Following on from their remarkable experience at the ICSMS Gala Concert held at the Forbidden City in Beijing, our musicians demonstrated their ability to connect and collaborate with their peers in order to prepare for a high level performance. The experience not only honed their musical skills but also nurtured their capacity for teamwork and artistic expression.
Art: Creative Expression Under Pressure
Art students seized the opportunity to explore Singapore's cultural landscape, including the iconic National Gallery. Of the course of the week, they collaborated with their peers to produce a stunning creative installation, which was showcased on Friday afternoon. Working towards a common artistic vision within set parameters provided invaluable lessons in creativity, adaptability, and meeting deadlines.
Drama: Engaging Performances
The dedication of drama students was evident in their captivating performance of Oddyssey at the Alleyn Theatre, captivating audiences with their commitment and talent. Their immersive storytelling underscored the power of theatrical expression and engagement with diverse narratives
Cultural Exploration in Singapore
Beyond the competitive events, students immersed themselves in Singapore's rich culture, broadening their horizons through exploration of local sights and experiences. Gardens by the Bay was a particular favourite for many our students and staff. This cultural exchange enriched their understanding of global diversity and fostered a spirit of curiosity and appreciation for different traditions.
Alumni
I enjoyed attending the Worldwise Alumni Network (WAN) hosted at the fabled Singapore Cricket Club. It was great to connect with alumni from across the Dulwich College International family and I was particularly pleased to spend time with our very own Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi alumni who attended this event. This powerful network awaits your children when they graduate.
Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi Named Co-hosts for the Next Dulwich Olympiad 2027/2028
It was announced that Shanghai has been named as the host city for the next Olympiad. We are honoured to be named as co-hosts with our sister school Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong and look forward to our College community taking its rightful place on centre stage of the wider Dulwich College family. For students in Middle School and upper Junior School, this will be your time to shine on the biggest of the Dulwich stages.
