Dulwich Puxi Students Awarded At Chinese Creative Arts Showcase丨德威浦西学子闪耀中华文化舞台

We are proud to announce that two of our students have recently received special awards for their outstanding performance in an assessment under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.  

What is this assessment?

Appreciating the Charm of Poetry, Music and Dance: Savoring Chinese Culture is a student showcase for Shanghai schools for foreign nationals, organised by the Shanghai Science and Art Education Center under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

Following a competitive selection process, two of our Year 7 students stood out among participants and received special honours for their performances, reflecting both artistic excellence and cultural understanding.

First Prize, Junior Secondary Group

Chinese Folk Dance 'Yong Chun'

'When I heard that my dance Yong Chun won first prize, I felt incredibly excited and grateful. This piece blends the strength and softness of traditional Yong Chun with the dynamic rhythms of modern street dance. Through this collision of classical Chinese style and street dance, I hope audiences could see the unique power and charm of Chinese street dance.

This honour does not belong to me alone. I would like to thank my teachers for their encouragement and recognition, as well as everyone who enjoyed this performance. I will continue to move forward with this passion, bringing more traditional Chinese elements into my choreography so that more people can see the beauty of Chinese tradition. I will also keep striving to perform on more stages.'

Chinese Instrumental Music 'War Horses Marching' (Ocarina)

'I am honoured to receive second prize in this showcase. Holding this hard-earned award, I feel deeply grateful. My sincere thanks go to my teachers for their careful guidance and to my parents for their support.

This recognition affirms my effort, but my greatest gain lies in the sense of pure focus I experience while practising the ocarina. In the future, I will continue to treat the ocarina as my companion, exploring my own musical voice within traditional Chinese rhythms.'
