Early Years Big Day Out

We’ve had so much fun on our big days out this week! Each year group spent the day with their families at Shanghai Botanical Gardens and what a perfect time of year to visit. Throughout the gardens are beautiful displays of flowers and plants, showing all the different types of plants that grow around us. We heard some lovely language being used to describe the plants and flowers, “soft petals”, “spikey leaves” and “tall trees”. We also noticed lots of changes that are happening in the gardens with the leaves changing colour and falling from the trees.

The children had lots of space to run around and they spent time playing together on the grass. Toddlers spent a long time playing fun games with the parachutes and used magnifying glasses to observe nature close up from their exploration with the magnifying glasses last week. Nursery went on a scavenger hunt, searching for autumnal objects on their walk. This gave the children lots of opportunity to develop their curiosity and wonder at what they observed. Although the Reception trip was shorter due to the high Air Quality Index, the children still talked about what they saw in the gardens including the flowers and insects that they found.
