Earth Hour: Calling All Dulwich Families

Earth Hour: Calling all Dulwich families to give our Earth a rest this weekend.

This Saturday 28th March at 8:30pm (local time) marks the global movement called Earth Hour. For one hour, from 8:30pm – 9:30pm, millions of people around the world switch out their lights to give our Earth a well needed rest from the energy demands that we use every second, of every minute, of every day. Your family can join Earth Hour too. Here are some ideas that you can do at home this Saturday evening at 8:30pm. Remember, if everyone takes a small step, together we achieve great things.

Dinner by Candlelight.
Nothing is more special (and exciting) for children than a family meal enjoyed entirely by candlelight. Do something different – switch out the lights and enjoy the magical glow of candles this weekend.

Camping Out Under the Night Sky.
For those of us who are more adventurous souls and want to extend their participation of Earth Hour, why not try an evening camping in your garden. Torches, midnight feasts, and sleeping under a night sky can be a wonderful experience for children to enjoy whilst giving Earth a rest from the electricity we would normally use in our bedrooms.

Night Time Photography.
Are you a creative person and want to celebrate Earth Hour in a creative way? Try some night time photography! Try taking portraits of your family, or your pet, or trees and plants in your garden using torchlight or candlelight.

We hope many of you will support Earth Hour this year. It really is a wonderful way to enjoy the simplicity of candle light with your children, and give our Earth a much needed break.
