Getting Ready for Future Success: IGCSE and IB Options Evening
On Wednesday, 15 February the Senior School team at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi hosted the annual IGCSE and IB Options Evening for Year 9 and Year 11 students and their parents. Choosing the right educational pathway is one of the most important decisions a family can make. The Options Evening supports this process by offering detailed information about the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Throughout the evening families learn about the wide variety of courses on offer and receive guidance and advice on the various options students have.
Teachers from each subject are on hand to answer questions, provide support, and reassure families as they consider all the options available. The assessment methods, course requirements and benefits of each subject are presented.
Parents can review textbooks and course material together with their children and the course teachers to become more familiar with what each subject entails. This process helps families as they match subject choices with their children's skills, passions, and aspirations for the future.
In addition to academic subjects, the Options Evening also provides an opportunity for families to learn about the many extra-curricular opportunities available, such the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the Electives Programme, after-school CCAs, sporting fixtures and more, that support and enhance the child’s holistic growth throughout Years 10 to 13.
Decisions made during these critical years in a child’s education can have a significant impact on their university and career pathways, so the Options Evening carries significant weight. This is why it is so important that our dedicated Senior School staff are on hand at every step of the Senior School journey to support, advise and guide our families.
