Global Recognition: Celebrating Language Award Winners

In today’s interconnected world, language is far more than a tool for communication - it’s a gateway to deeper thinking, cultural understanding, and global citizenship. At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, language learning is at the heart of our holistic education, empowering students to become fluent, culturally aware, and confident in both their native and additional languages — to truly Live Worldwise.

This year, our students have once again demonstrated their dedication, creativity and linguistic flair, earning outstanding recognition in several highly competitive language and writing competitions.

United Kingdom Linguistics Olympiad (UKLO)

The UKLO is a competition open to all ages, focusing on language analysis. By crafting linguistics puzzles and hosting competitions, UKLO aims to foster a lifelong passion for the world’s languages. This remarkable performance underscores our commitment to the study and exploration of linguistics. Our small but mighty group of dedicated students participated in the UKLO with great enthusiasm and were thrilled to have entries for:

Foundation Awards

Language Championships  - Education Perfect

As part of this year’s Festival of Languages, our students also took part in the annual Language Championships on the Education Perfect platform, hosted by Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong for all Dulwich International Schools.

Students competed in a range of languages during their MFL lessons and in their own time, answering questions, translating, and exploring vocabulary across cultures. We’re delighted to share that Dulwich Puxi came first place overall, based on average points per student - a brilliant reflection of the effort and engagement shown across the school.

Our Year 8 French class was named the top-performing class in the entire competition, and six of our students placed in the Top 10 overall: Annabelle R (Y8), Angel L (Y8), Jared P (Y8), Jessica J(Y8), Myles K (Y8), Ryan Z (Y9).

The 4th Global Chinese Writing Competition for Young Writers

This international competition attracted over 4,000 young writers from 400+ schools across 20+ countries - a global celebration of Chinese language and creativity. This year marked a milestone for Dulwich Puxi, with an unprecedented number of award winners from both native and non-native Chinese language categories.

We are also proud to share that Dulwich Puxi has once again been recognised as an Excellent School for Chinese Writing and as an Outstanding Organising Institution - a distinction we have earned for two consecutive years.

The 5th Chinese Picture Book Writing Contest

Organised by our sister school, Dulwich College Beijing, this competition brought together nearly 1,000 students from more than 20 international and bilingual schools across China. We’re thrilled to celebrate the success of three of our young writers, who were each recognised in their categories -  with only six students selected per award.

Celebrating Language, Culture, and Confidence

These results are a testament not only to our students’ talent and perseverance, but to the strength of language learning at Dulwich Puxi. Whether analysing complex linguistic structures or crafting powerful written narratives, our students are becoming the confident communicators and culturally fluent global citizens our world needs.
