The Performing Arts: A Celebration of Talent and Collaboration

Performances are part of our school life throughout the whole year, a way to show our students talents, improve their public speaking skills and teamwork & collaboration. This academic year, across every corner of Dulwich Puxi - from Early Years to Senior School - the performing arts have brought our community together in ways that feel both joyful and deeply connected.

Our students stepped into new roles, tried new things, and supported one another - whether on stage, behind the curtain, or in the audience. The result? A series of performances that reminded us why the arts are such a vital part of school life.

Early Years: 

There’s a Sunflower in My Supper

In the spring, our Early Years students delighted audiences with their charming production 'There’s a Sunflower in My Supper'. Led by the Reception children in the main roles, with spirited musical contributions from Nursery and Toddlers, the performance told the story of Daisy the cow who dares to dream beyond the ordinary. With handmade props and backdrops crafted by the children themselves, the show was not only a celebration of imagination but also a beautiful example of teamwork in its purest form. 

The production highlighted what we value most in Early Years: giving our children the confidence to share their voices, the opportunity to collaborate, and the freedom to dream big - just like Daisy.

Key Stage 1: 

Baubles

No Christmas at Dulwich Puxi would be complete without our much-loved Key Stage 1 production, and this year’s Baubles was nothing short of magical. The story of Mr. Potts, the devoted school caretaker with a creative mission, unfolded with warmth and humour, complete with delightful green-screen surprises that had the audience smiling from start to finish. The children sang beautifully, acted with confidence, and brought the spirit of the season to life in the most heartwarming way.

This production was a true community effort. From the music and tech teams to parents supporting at home, it reflected the strength of our school family. But above all, it was our young performers who shone brightest - demonstrating not only talent, but also resilience, teamwork, and pride in their shared achievement.

Junior School: 

Peter Pan Jr.

In the Junior School, the theatre lights rose on Peter Pan Jr., transporting us to Neverland where imagination knows no limits. Students took audiences on a whirlwind of adventures, capturing the timeless tension between childhood wonder and the realities of growing up.

What made Peter Pan so special wasn’t just the joyful energy of the Lost Boys or the villainous charm of Captain Hook - it was the sense of collaboration that powered every scene. With students running lights, sound, and behind-the-scenes production, the show truly reflected a team effort. It was a celebration not just of performance, but of shared purpose and growth. 

Senior School: 

Clue

Closing the year with flair, our Senior School students took to the stage in Clue, a comedic murder mystery that required quick thinking, sharp timing, and strong ensemble work. The cast and crew handled the pace and technical demands with confidence, drawing the audience into the twists and turns of the story.

It was a clever production, with a strong sense of student ownership throughout - proof that the skills built in the arts extend far beyond the stage.

This year’s performances have reminded us that the stage is not only a place to act, but also a place to learn, connect, and grow. Through every song, every script, every set change, our students have developed not only their creative skills, but also empathy, confidence, and the ability to work as one.

We are proud of every student who stepped up - whether on stage or behind the curtain. These shared moments are what make Dulwich Puxi so special: a community where every voice is heard, and every talent valued.
