At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi we are committed to using technology effectively and constructively in lessons to further students understanding of the subject content and to develop student’s ICT skills. In order for teachers to use ICT in their lessons, students from Years 7 to 13 must bring their own devices to school as part of their everyday learning equipment. To ensure that student’s will be able to use their devices as effective learning tools the following requirements and suggestions have been put in place:

Laptop

Hardware Requirements:

• Laptop with full laptop operating system (Windows or Mac Os) (Tablet or iPad does not suffice)
• Capability to be connected to an external computer screen or projector
• Capability to connect to USB devices

Suggestions:

• Microsoft Surface
• Apple MacBook Air

Software Requirement:

• Microsoft Office Suite (including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for PC or Mac
• Antivirus software for Windows
• Music software similar to Garage band: Audacity for Windows laptops (free software)
• Video software similar to iMovie: Hitfilm for Windows laptops (free software)

Calculator

In Years 7-9, students must bring a Casio fx-82ES calculator to class with them..

As part of the Mathematics Programme, students from Year 9 to Year 13 are required to use a Graphical Display Calculator. We recommend the Ti-nspire CX II version from Texas Instruments (Note: not the CAS version).  This Calculator includes the TI-Nspire Student Software.

Note: The software is important and you need to keep the licence code in a safe place, otherwise you will need to buy a new one.

Please note that while the IB allow different versions of Graphical Display Calculators, we are recommending Ti-nspire CX II version and will support this version in classes.
