Nursery Teacher

Clare Higgins joins DCSM this August 2017 to teach our Foundation Stage One pupils. Clare has a B.Ed Degree from Southampton University, specialising in English and Early Years. Clare has over twenty years experience teaching across the Early Years, and taught in both the state and the independent sector in the UK. For the last two years Clare has been a Nursery teacher at Wellington College International Tianjin, which last year achieved CIS accreditation and COBIS membership.  For nine years prior to this, Clare taught Nursery pupils at The British International School, Cairo which gained an Excellent in all areas in its 2015 ISI inspection. Clare has written and produced many musical drama performances for Nursery pupils, including a version of Shakespeare's The Tempest.  Clare also led workshops for parents on topics including €˜managing behaviour€™ and €˜the importance of play for learning€™. Clare has four grown up children, and her hobbies and interests include choral singing, playing the piano, literature, drama, poetry, art, walking, swimming and skiing.
