- Year 1: Important Qualities We Need To Grow
I was delighted to hear our Year 1 students discussion the important qualities we need to grow, as they prepare their transition to Year 2. As part of their wellbeing and development, they have been thinking about and discussing what qualities good friends need to have. Together, they read stories about friendship, and highlighted important qualities of friendship within them. The children were incredibly articulate about what behaviours they expect from their friends, and how they expect to act in return. They then drew their best friends and discussed together what qualities they had that impressed them most.
“Caring, kind, thoughtful, helpful, a good listener, showing leadership, playfulness, humourous...”
These were just some of the wonderful descriptions of friendship that I overheard in their class discussions. I am so proud of Year 1. They really are growing up well.
