- DUCKS Students Enjoy New Discoveries!
We love a good day out in DUCKS Early Years. Field trips mean learning in a different context. They mean being together with great families, and learning more about each other. They also means that the learning is a great big adventure!
Our recent Early Years trip to the zoo was an enormous adventure, and we met some fantastic new animals along the way. A trip to the zoo allows children to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world, and provides a rich environment to develop a whole range of new vocabulary. Real life learning experiences increase children’s engagement, and motivate and inspire them to find out more – they provoke curiosity and wonder!
We’ve certainly been reaping the benefits of this fantastic opportunity all around the school. In all of our DUCKS classrooms I have watched children re-enact their zoo trip in our role-play areas. I have observed groups "playing zoos" with the small world, and rehearsing the language that they acquired on their day out. Beautiful art works; the product of rich observation, have been popping up in corridors, and on display boards. The children will remember this experience for a long time, and I hope you will too!
