An Inspirational Address From Polar Photographer, Florian Ledoux

Florian Ledoux
When I photograph, I’m somewhere else. This is, I guess, what constitutes as passion, my passion to serve the conservation of the Arctic Wildlife.
- Florian Ledoux, Polar Photographer

At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, we believe in the importance of Living Worldwise. Our curriculum cultivates personal character and promotes a positive mindset.  We know this is valued by international universities:

What kind of human being are you? Who are you in class?  Who are you in the halls of residence?  Who are you on the sports team?  Who are you in the community?
— Admissions Officer, University of Pennsylvania

Our enrichment programme empowers students to make a difference on campus and in the wider community. We are preparing them to graduate with the confidence to contribute and the drive to make a difference at university and beyond.

Getting to know award winning nature photographer Florian Ledoux

We create exciting opportunities for students to connect with change makers and innovators. This week students and staff enjoyed an inspirational talk by nature photographer Florian Ledoux.  Florian is an award-winning photographer and was international Drone Photographer of the year in 2018. His photography has been published in magazines like National Geographic and Time Magazine.  His efforts to bring new and meaningful images to the global community have also been recognised by conservation organisations such as the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.  Florian spoke to our community about his commitment to preserving the polar regions and its wildlife.  He also shared his passion for photography and his personal journey:

“Those moments are invaluable to me, something is happening within me.  It’s what I live for. When I photograph, I’m somewhere else. This is, I guess, what constitutes as passion, my passion to serve the conservation of the Arctic Wildlife.”

Senior School students are reconnecting with Florian next week for an in-depth Q&A session. They are inspired to find out more about his experiences in the Artic and Antarctic. They are also curious to ask him about his personal journey.

How did you discover and pursue your passion for photography?
How did you develop your skill set?
How did you overcome the challenges along the way?

Biodiversity at Dulwich Puxi

Like Florian Ledoux, we are committed to celebrating biodiversity.  We are privileged to learn in an environment in which wildlife flourishes. Later in the year we will be launching our guide to the Birds of Dulwich Puxi. We want to play our part in protecting this environment and I encourage all members of our community to engage with The Mustangs Challenge
