The new Dulwich in Shanghai: Designed with purpose
Dulwich College is recognised as a pioneer in education. It introduced the Modern Curriculum in the 1880’s. It was one of the first schools to introduce Mandarin Chinese to the curriculum, and it was the first of the UK independent schools to open a campus overseas in 1996 in Asia. Pioneering spirit and a demand for excellence touches everything we do.
Like our new 40,000 square meter, purpose built campus set upon farmland in Minhang. Our newest Dulwich College of Shanghai has been built to exceptional standards, to ensure that our students are educated safely, and are inspired by the facilities available.
Air Quality Management and Building Safety
Our air purification system has been specifically designed for the facility and installed by Pure Living, a company with excellent reputation for air quality management in China. Pure Living also provides ongoing consultancy to ensure that our system achieves excellent indoor air quality results. The system consists of primary filtration on the fresh air intake, on the main air-handling units of our HVAC system. In addition, all classrooms and common areas have secondary in-ceiling mounted filtration units. AQI is monitored and reported across the school first thing in the morning and again after lunch. School operations of the filtration systems are adjusted according to the AQI. School policies are adjusted with the AQI readings each day.
Our building materials across each of the classrooms and functional purpose rooms include high grade environmental-friendly materials, from sound-absorbing panels, wall coatings, floor tiles and PVC floors to low irritant and glue free Miliken carpets; a 145 year old US heritage brand. The glass used throughout the campus is safety laminated, tempered glass.
Our Science labs are equipped for exploration and discovery across biology, chemistry, physics and integrated science classes. As with all adventures, it is critical to be well prepared and our labs are equipped with emergency eye spray washing and ventilation systems, and other security measures.
Indoor Sporting Facilities
Our three-story, multi-purpose stadium features an 8-lane, 50-metre pool on the 1st floor, with a 10m x 10m training pool for our youngest learners. The pool is equipped with US imported Daktronics timing system and Datacraft LED Scoring systems to ensure the most competitive of sporting facilities. Upstairs in the 2000 square meter indoor gymnasium, the space can host 3 basketball courts or 3 volleyball courts, or 12 Badminton Courts, depending on the PE sport being played.
Outdoor Recreation
Besides the outdoor football pitch and basketball courts, we have recreational facilities on campus, including climbing nets, climbing walls, slides and swings. These are produced in Germany, the Czech Republic or Belgium. They are imported from KOMPAN, the largest manufacturer of high-end children's outdoor play equipment in Europe.
