University and Careers Counselling: A Critical Support Network

Parents at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi benefit from a wide range of University and Careers Counselling (UCC) support; all aimed at helping our students succeed at being accepted into their university of choice and being prepared for life after graduation. Whether it is bespoke and personalised support meetings with our UCC team, access to our global Worldwise Alumni Network, seminars and resources from around the world, or our on-campus University and Careers Counseling workshops - parents and students are able to tap into a wealth of resources that make the path to university reassuring, structured and informed.

On Monday, 24 October, the Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi University and Careers Counselling team hosted a workshop supporting parents through the challenging task of helping their child research their “best fit” university. We believe that parents are crucial partners in the university planning process. It is critical to us that parents are involved at every step of the journey.

Our workshop this week centred on the theme ‘Where am I going?’.  The workshop covered topics such as;

  • What to consider when developing a university pathway for your child
  • The importance of standardised tests
  • How transcripts work
  • How letters of recommendation support your child

The workshop also covered the many ways in which I, as University and Careers Counsellor at the College, can provide support to families as they build out plans for their child’s future.

Our UCC workshops have a simple aim:

Boost our students’ chances of being accepted to their dream university

The workshops help our parents stay informed on the latest university requirements, educational policies, visa restrictions and more. They also facilitate the creation of a support network consisting of parents who are all going through the same journey and facing the same challenges.

Thank you to those parents who joined this week’s workshop!
