Celebrating our Year 2 and Year 6 Graduates

DCSPX Celebrating Y2 and Y6 Graduates

The end of Year 2 and Year 6 are important transition periods for students at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi; moments we place great importance on celebrating. For Year 2 students, the move up from DUCKS (Dulwich College Kindergarten) into the Junior School is significant. From the Early Years through to Key Stage 1 (Toddler to Year 2), students progressively advance from our play-based learning environments and dual-language programme to the more structured, formal class layouts found in the Junior School, where instruction is conducted in English. As our children leave Year 2 and move on to Year 3, they are fully prepared for the rigorous and ambitious academic programme of our Junior School. They are also competent in both English and Mandarin; skills that will carry them forward as they progress through the College. The transition from Year 6 to Year 7 is in many ways more significant for the students themselves, as they leave the Primary School and become Senior School students. Senior School students are presented with a world of new and challenging opportunities as they begin their journey towards the IGCE, IBDP and university applications.

We traditionally celebrate our Year 2 and Year 6 graduations at the end of the academic year. Students are given a formal send off to fanfare and applause.

Last academic year, those celebrations were conducted online. As we prepare to start the 2022-2023 academic year on campus on September 1st we felt it fitting to bring our teachers, parents and students together to give them a formal graduation send-off in person.

“It was so wonderful to see our Year 2, soon to be Year 3 children’s smiles after such a long time apart. I am so proud of their achievements, and very confident that they are now ready to embark on their Junior School journeys. I look forward to seeing each and every one of them continue to thrive as they move up the Primary School.”

“I am so proud of our Year 6 students. They have proven themselves to be resilient, kind and caring students throughout their time in the Primary School. Now, they are ready to spread their wings and grow on their Senior School journeys. I will miss seeing their faces each day in the Primary, but I am sure that they will remember their time in Primary School fondly, and that the skills they have learnt will set them up for future success. Good luck Year 6!”
