Recently, Mr. Zarate, our University Counsellor, had the privilege of accompanying a select group of students to an in-person presentation by the esteemed University of Cambridge, right here in Shanghai. Led by Olivia Matthewson from the Cambridge Admissions Office, this event, 'Applying to the University of Cambridge,' provided our students with invaluable insights into a world-class faculty, cutting-edge research facilities, and remarkable resources that await those who dare to dream big. Our students emerged from this experience with a nuanced understanding of the university's offerings.

Key Takeaways from the Presentation:

  1. Every aspect of the application process is interrelated. To apply successfully, students should research all available courses, align their application with their academic passion, and recognise that each component, from predicted grades to personal statements, holds equal importance.
  2. Understanding the distinctions between the colleges and departments within Cambridge is crucial.
  3. The interview process is an academic discussion, an opportunity to showcase thinking, adaptability to new information, and compatibility with the course and teaching style.

This transformative experience not only inspired them but also broadened their horizons, igniting their enthusiasm for pursuing higher education at universities of Cambridge's calibre.

Yu Zhe Zhou, DHSZ 2018, who recently graduated from Cambridge, shares, “Cambridge is a place full of challenges and opportunities. I was under a lot of pressure, but at the same time, it helped me to thrive, to be more resilient, and to explore my inner self.”

At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, we remain steadfast in our support of students, preparing them for bright futures at institutions like the University of Cambridge.
