It was my pleasure to host the first Careers Fair this academic year. We were privileged to have 14 different career representatives attending to support our students with this important aspect of their lives. These 14 Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi parents, partners and other community members joined us on campus to provide insights and inspiration to our students, providing a perfect example of how we are stronger when we work Together.

Our community is made up of a hugely diverse mix of professionals, representing almost all career fields one could imagine. The extraordinary range of experiences amongst our community members provides our students with a unique and valuable resource.

Throughout the fair, students met and engaged in conversation with the representatives in attendance. They explored topics such as what inspired them to embark on their career path, what obstacles they faced and how they overcame them, and how they are making a positive difference in the world.

An important lesson we want to share with our students is that, regardless of the career path they wish to pursue in life, it will be a lasting and genuine passion for the subject that will carry them past obstacles and help them succeed. As students embark on choosing their IGCSE and IBDP subject options, and subsequently selecting their university preferences, it is important that they are choosing courses in alignment with their passions. For some, finding their true passion can take many years, with the seeds being planted in the most unlikely of places. It is our hope that events like the Career Fair my help plant those seeds.

In addition to learning about new and exciting potential career paths, our students also formed networks and built relationships that may turn into potential work experience and internship opportunities in the career fields they aspire towards.

A huge thanks to those community members who attended as Career Representatives. We are certainly stronger together, and our students are better off as a result of your participation!
