Dulwich College Puxi Receives Curiosity Approach Accreditation
We are proud to announce that Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi has received accreditation from The Curiosity Approach, making our College the first and only school in China to be Curiosity Approach accredited. This achievement is a testament to the world-class early childhood educational provision on offer at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi.

The accreditation process commenced at the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year, and was spearheaded by Deputy Head of Primary, Early Years, Mrs Gemma Stanton. In sharing the news of our accreditation, the assessment panel commented;
"The team have fully embraced the Curiosity Approach, well done Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi. I want to express my gratitude to Gemma and her team for a comprehensive submission. It is evident that the children are thoroughly enjoying their environment, especially the beautiful outdoors, and overcoming cultural barriers, they have become weather warriors! As demonstrated in the evidence provided, elements of the Curiosity Approach are being threaded throughout the school, not just in Early Years. Congratulations to all of the team at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi."

What is The Curiosity Approach?

The Curiosity Approach is a modern-day approach to Early Childhood learning, taking parts from Reggio, Steiner Te Whariki and adding a sprinkle of Montessori. It is a beautiful recipe book of wonderful ingredients, carefully mixed together with experience, passion and a love of Early Childhood.

The Curiosity Approach builds on the work of influential Early Years theorists in providing children with an environment, experiences, activities, and resources which foster their innate need to be curious, explore and engage in a high level of sustained shared thinking. The accreditation process focused on the requirement for constant reflection to ensure the very best quality and care for our youngest learners. Our practitioners are well-versed in the art of self and team reflective practice, regularly pausing to review and evaluate our Engaging Spaces; valuing this as an important process in creating truly enabling environments.
Working through six-modules over this academic year, our teams have looked at increasing their use of natural and authentic resources, considering the placement of furniture and use of light and colour and the impacts this has on a child's engagement and independence across the setting. The accreditation process was fully embraced by the Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi parent community, with many authentic resources sourced and donated by parents throughout the year. The achievement truly is an example of the community Aiming High Together, and Working Hard Together to achieve our ambitions.
