Dulwich Puxi: Small Classes, Personal Coaching & Counselling

Along with the incredible benefits of small class sizes that are offered both in school and online at Dulwich College Puxi, we also offer an extremely professional one-to-one academic guidance and counselling service to our students. Dulwich College Counselling is globally recognised as best practice within senior school education, where students’ safeguarding and wellbeing is at the center of our practice.

What Counselling Services Do We Offer?

At Dulwich Puxi, we ensure a personal approach to each students’ needs throughout their individual learning journeys at the College and we do this with one-to-one subject guidance, life coaching, and personal counselling services led by Mr. Martin Zarate.

For each of our Middle School students in Year 9, academic counselling and guidance has been offered as a tailored service to support students with their upcoming subject choices for IGCSEs.

Guidance and Counselling have maintained constant open doors throughout Covid-19 with Mr. Zarate keeping a virtual door open for our senior students, welcoming them to check in and chat on a regular basis. It has been very important that students are able to access our support services from home and the Dulwich counselling service has continued to provide a safe place to express feelings and thoughts during this life-changing period in our students’ young lives.

How Do I Access Counselling In The College?

If parents feel that their child might benefit from Counselling services, please email Mr. Zarate at [email protected] directly or email their Mentor or class teacher for an introduction. It is important that students recognise that counselling is available, and that this service can be a powerful life coaching tool for individual wellbeing and success.

The Counselling team are in daily contact with teachers and staff to offer one-to-one counselling to students in need. Whilst individual counselling is confidential, the different needs of our student community are identified to ensure teachers are helping to implement individual action plans to support their students’ more effectively. As a result of these meetings, many students have benefitted from the additional support of our Counselling support which during Covid-19 has been provided directly through Microsoft Teams.

Positive, empowered children develop as accomplished and successful students of life. It is our goal at Dulwich Puxi to ensure that our students can realise and reach their potential, during their time at Dulwich and for the many years beyond.

Keep well and keep positive,

Martin Zarate
School Guidance Counsellor
