Junior School Trips: A Journey of Growth and Adventure
At Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, we believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom. As an international school, we recognise the importance of outdoor education in fostering global perspectives and personal growth.
Following Senior School Challenge Week, our Junior School students set off on their own transformative journeys, sparking curiosity, resilience, and a sense of adventure. Here’s a glimpse into the enriching experiences they embraced:
Year 3 Trip to
Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park
Stepping into Shanghai’s Past
Year 3 students took a journey into Shanghai’s past at Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, exploring artefacts from 5,000 years ago. From pottery to tools, these relics revealed the social structures and traditions of Shanghai’s earliest residents. Students were especially captivated by the museum’s folk customs exhibit, which brought Han dynasty traditions to life. The day was enriched with scavenger hunts, hands-on activities, and storytelling sessions, sparking imaginations and connecting past to present.
Year 4 & Year 5 Residential
at Le Camp
Embracing Challenges and Teamwork
Year 4 and Year 5 students embarked on a three-day trip to Le Camp by a beautiful lake. They tackled survival skills-building shelters, filtering water, and using flints to start fires. They also worked on bridge-building, kayaking, climbing, and orienteering at Wolf Mountain. These shared adventures-built resilience, fostered independence, and created friendships that will last well beyond the trip.
Year 6 Residential in Moganshan
Resilience and Adventure in Nature
Year 6 spent four days in Moganshan, where they faced a series of challenges designed to build resilience and independence amid stunning bamboo forests and mountains. Students took on challenges such as wall climbing, high ropes, and tent camping, encouraging one another to push beyond their limits. Highlights included a scavenger hunt on Mogan Mountain, where students worked collaboratively to solve clues and navigate new areas, demonstrating leadership and independence, as well as a scenic 10km bike ride around a lakeside path fostering teamwork. In the wetlands, students learned about environmental conservation by removing invasive Golden Apple snails to help protect native habitats. The experience culminated with a mountain hike, reinforcing orienteering and teamwork.
These Junior School trips reflect Dulwich Puxi’s commitment to holistic education, empowering students to grow in confidence, resilience, and global awareness. Through these outdoor adventures, our students have taken bold steps towards becoming well-rounded individuals ready to engage with the world around them.
