Partnership with Elevated Honey Co: Meet Katrina Klett, Founder
Earlier this academic year we kicked off our collaboration with Elevated Honey Co, a social enterprise located in Shangri-La, Yunnan, China. Through our partnership with Elevated Honey Co, we fund investment in beekeeping infrastructure, empower the local community to preserve their time-honored beekeeping techniques, empower community members to make a living off their ancestral lands, and provide native honeybees with the necessary environment to flourish and enhance local forest biodiversity.
We were lucky to have Katrina Klett, founder of Elevated Honey Co, visit us on campus earlier this year as a member of our Career Panel. Katrina sat down with Mr. Ingram, Head of College, to discuss her background, how she came to create Elevated Honey Co, and why she is excited about the partnership with Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi.
Our Year 6 and 7 teachers have been working with Elevated Honey Co to incorporate lessons on the ecological, economic, and social aspects of local beekeeping practices into their coursework. Additionally, our students have been selling pure "Thousand Flower Honey" at community events to raise additional funds in support of this unique beekeeping community.
It was wonderful to have Katrina on campus, and we cannot wait to continue deepening our relationship with Elevated Honey Co when our students visit the mountain communities they support as part of their residential trips later in the year.
