Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi is proud to be a member of the extended Dulwich College International and Education in Motion family of schools. Our family consists of schools around the globe, and as a team, we are committed to providing our students with life-changing opportunities and experiences they will find nowhere else; this is the Dulwich Difference.
Looking forward to the 2023-2024 academic year, we have many exciting opportunities prepared for our students. Many of these are our Education in Motion family of schools Worldwise Events. Others are opportunities exclusive to Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi students.
Let’s see what we have in store for the 2023-2024 academic year:
Term 1
Ignite: Switzerland Rock Term
Ignite: Switzerland provide our students the unique opportunity to spend 12 weeks in the south-eastern region of Switzerland; leading their own expedition into the world of learning, discovering their own potential, and reflecting on the world around them in an awe-inspiring natural environment.
Term 1 “Rock” will build resiliency and passion, with tough but rewarding activities focused on fully embracing the rugged mountain and lush forest trails that Switzerland has to offer. Students will learn how to appreciate nature, gearing up to tackle challenging but inspiring treks and hikes, with the opportunity to camp below the stars and develop essential survival skills such as fire-building, outdoor cooking, and using a compass to navigate.
Other exciting “Rock” activities include bouldering, rock-climbing, and a high-ropes adventure park where 421 trees are connected in 9 high ropes courses. This term is all about teamwork, personal confidence, and developing resilience to conquer new heights, while instilling a deep connection and respect for the great outdoors.

Dulwich Games @ Dulwich College Beijing
Dulwich Games is an annual 2-day sports competition for Junior School students across Dulwich College International schools. This is a fantastic opportunity for our younger students to travel to another Dulwich College, make new friends and compete across athletics, swimming and football.
Junior School Residential Trips
Each year our Junior School students travel to unique, exciting locations to build resilience, deepen their friendships with classmates, learn new skills and make a positive difference to local communities around China.
Elevated Honey Trip
As part of our partnership with Elevated Honey, our Year 7 Senior School students will take a 6-day trip to Yunnan with highlights from the itinerary including:
- Exploring Dukezong Old Town
- Trekking and hiking
- A biodiversity workshop learning about the plants growing on the Tibetan Plateau
- Tibetan traditional family home visit
- Matsutake harvesting
- Visiting Elevated Honey’s operation to learn about traditional Asian beekeeping methods
- Tibetan snack making
- Visiting Yunnan’s Snub-Nosed Monkey National Park and speaking to primatologists and conservationists
- Learning Tibetan arts and crafts
Dulwich Shakespeare Festival (DSF) with Royal Shakespeare Company
Confidence, collaboration, creativity – three words to describe the beloved Dulwich Shakespeare Festival that brings together hundreds of students and teachers each year to celebrate Shakespeare and his timeless legacy. The festival welcomes practitioners from the Royal Shakespeare Company as well, who work together with the participants to bring to life the yearly festival theme and Shakespeare's language. Students develop their performance, collaborative and communication skills in a safe yet challenging format while teachers build a community of practice with colleagues across the network and parents experience first-hand the impact of the partnership and celebrate the achievements of their children.
Dulwich Festival of Music (DFM)
Musicianship, professionalism and fun; each year the Dulwich Festival of Music welcomes hundreds of senior school students from across our family of schools for a 3-day festival that celebrates the passion and joy of music. Participants undergo three days of intense rehearsals led by our teachers and music professionals from world-famous music institutions such as the Royal Northern College of Music, all of which concludes in a stellar gala concert featuring extraordinary choir, big band, rock band and orchestra performances. In addition to this, Dulwich Festival of Music hosts the annual Dulwich Musician of the Year competition allowing some of the most talented young musicians from across the schools to compete for the coveted Dulwich College International Musician of the Year Award.
Term 2
Model United Nations
Students have the opportunity to unleash their inner diplomat by participating in Model United Nations (MUN). This globally recognised educational simulation encourages critical thinking, problem solving, and negotiation skills, as students step into the shoes of a UN delegate to address real-world challenges. By engaging in dynamic debates and drafting resolutions, MUN nurtures global awareness and empathy. It's an immersive experience that fosters communication, public speaking, and teamwork skills, while expanding student’s knowledge on global affairs. Beyond learning, MUN is an opportunity to meet, interact, and build relationships with like-minded students from across the Dulwich College International network.
Ignite: Switzerland Snow Term
Term 2 “Snow” at Ignite: Switzerland will inspire confidence and fearlessness, teaching students to embrace the cold and appreciate the awe-inspiring alpine mountain peaks. Students will learn how to stay warm in cold weather and properly gear up to tackle the slopes on snow-capped mountains. Students will develop confidence and resilience in the cold outdoors that will enable them to take leadership roles in other aspects of their lives in the future.
Other exciting “Snow” activities include sledding, cross-country skiing, ice hockey and ice skating. This term is all about building the confidence to take on new challenges and capturing the passion that is required to reach new heights.

Junior School Leadership Conference
The Junior School Student Leadership Conference is a bi-annual event where Key Stage 2 student leaders come together to develop leadership and transformational skills that enable them to become change agents for good. These student leaders are challenged to collaborate on real-world issues throughout the academic year and document their process in a leadership portfolio that demonstrates how they have made a positive impact in their school, their community, and across our family of schools, as well as grown as caring, connected, and empowered global citizens.
Senior School Student Leadership Conference
The Senior School Student Leadership Conference is an annual event that brings students together from across the family of schools for an immersive educational experience that focuses on real-life leadership skills and projects. This unique 3-day event not only enables students to connect with one another and learn from each other but also equips them with relevant leadership skills, techniques and knowledge that they can bring back and implement at their respective schools. Through a range of thought-provoking workshops co-facilitated by internal and external educators, students are presented with various real-life scenarios and questions to solve collaboratively. The event in January then continues throughout the rest of the academic year with monthly sessions and workshops enabling students to further embed into practice what they have learned. The Student Leadership Conference is a true highlight of the year for all participants and a core part of their student journey.
International Schools Choral Music Society (ISCMS)
ISCMS is a 3-day large scale international music festival welcoming students from more than 20 international schools across the world. The event will feature rehearsals led by world-renowned musicians culminating in a gala concert in a professional musical venue.
High School Team Maths (HSTM)
HSTM is a 2-day collaborative maths competition for students from across China and Asia. The event promotes team work, problem solving, communication skills and mathematical endeavor. Teams will compete in 4 rounds; a problem solving round, a cross number round, a group round and a relay round. Prizes will be awarded for schools winning various categories.
Dulwich Game Jam
Dulwich Game Jame is a weekend long event where students work in teams to build a game that relates to one of the UN SDGs. The event will take place in partnership with Ubisoft one of the biggest game developing companies in the world.
Dulwich Olympiad - Singapore
The Dulwich Olympiad is a truly unique network-wide event celebrating our students and communities across the family of schools through a series of Sport, Drama, Music and Art activities. Its aim is not only to have the students challenge each other but also to give them the opportunity to meet their peers, often for the first time, learn about other cultures and the other schools in the network and to create new friendships across borders. The first Dulwich Olympiad held in 2015 was hosted by Dulwich College in Beijing with famous locations such as the Olympic Stadium while the second Olympiad hosted by Dulwich College in 2019 took place in London including some of the most iconic venues in the city like the Olympic Park and Aquaticum or the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Dulwich Olympiad 2024 will take place in Singapore, hosted by Dulwich College Singapore. Students participating will experience 6 days of exciting adventure including the Olympiad itself, as well as trips to local attractions and a 1-day ‘Amazing Race’ through Singapore.
Term 3
Ignite: Switzerland Water Term
Term 3 “Water” at Ignite: Switzerland will build independence and confidence while inspiring creativity and innovation. Outdoor activities will focus on water in all shapes and forms – from rafting down winding rivers to kayaking on still lakes fed from glacier runoffs. Students will experience the beauty of spring and the return of growth and life to the Alpine environment after winter.
Other exciting “Water” activities include a 3-day sailing camp unique to this term, where students will build teamwork and confidence. As the weather grows warmer, more outdoor activities are available, such as horse-riding, hiking, golfing, and tennis, and other team sports. The Water term is all about movement and growth, which students will experience first hand whether in or out of water.

Senior School Challenge Week
Senior School Challenge Week takes our Senior students out of the College for a week exploring exciting locations across the country, experiencing local customs and traditions, participating in a range of activities, sports and games, while building bonds amongst their peers and developing their leadership skills.
Eco-Explorer Camp
Founded by Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi in 2017, the annual Eco-Explorer Camp has grown into one of the most anticipated sustainability events across the schools that skillfully merges camping and student learning. Joined by hundreds of Junior School students from across the Dulwich College International family, the Eco-Explorer Camp aims to bring an immersive experience with nature to its participants through inspiring, hands-on workshops (such as nature photography, organic planting and farming, rain harvesting or recycled art) facilitated by our teachers and industry professionals and experts.
MADD Festival (Music, Art, Drama, Dance) hosted at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi
A 3-day Music, Art, Drama, Dance group-wide festival for EiM JS students with workshops, rehearsals and performances.
Primary FOBISIA Games
In the coming year our students will travel to Thailand to participate in Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) FRIENDLY GAMES; competitions encompassing both individual activities and team sports. They have a long-standing reputation for being the most popular events in the FOBISIA calendar that offer students a fantastic opportunity to compete at the highest levels, but at the same time, the opportunity for our students to form global friendships with their peers throughout the region.
HakD @Pudong
The HakD Hackathon is an annual event where students are encouraged to use a range of software and hardware to creatively solve given problems or scenarios. Kenn Chong, founder of HakD, explains “Hackathons… are about challenging yourself to push the fundamental boundaries of what you can truly create. For those who are new to programming, this is a great opportunity for you to try it out and see if it is something you would like to pursue in the future. For those who want to flex their skills in creating awesome products with others, this is also a great opportunity for you to meet new people that share the same passions as you!” This academic year our students achieved exceptionally well at HakD, and we are looking forward to another successful event in 2023-2024.
