Work Hard, Play Hard: A Summer Camp Adventure in Shanghai
Summer is for fun in the sun, splashing to cool off, exploring, making friends, learning new skills and reflecting. With our teachers back in Shanghai after an enjoyable summer holiday, and the team at the College preparing for another successful academic year at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, this week a group of Junior and Senior School students enjoyed a summer camp throughout Shanghai, taking in the best that Shanghai has to offer.
The camp started on Sunday, where the students built their own rafts, kayaked and paddle boarded through the lakes and waterways of Shanghai’s southern reaches.
From there, the students travelled to Changxing Island and Chongming Island, where throughout the week they did water sports, arts and crafts, nature walks, fishing, cycling, yoga, archery, canoeing, camping and more.
The trips each ended with reflections and bonfires, where students had a chance to look back at their achievements and bond over their shared experiences.
Below is a brief sample of just some of the fantastic adventures they got up to.
The Senior School students extended even further, getting super muddy on the search for some local delicacies, and exercising mindfulness while cycling and canoeing Chongming Island. They ended their trip with a camping experience and yoga in the serene ‘Heartland Farm’.
A huge thank you to Mr King, Ms Su and the team from The Hutong for arranging this summer camp. What a great way to round out the summer holiday!
