Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi Winter Ball 2020
The annual Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi Winter Ball is a highlight of the academic year: a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the strength of our community spirit and to come together for an evening of fun, laughter, celebration, entertainment and joy.
Moreover, the Winter Ball is a demonstration of our commitment to service and Making a Difference: raising funds to support the school we sponsor in Cambodia in collaboration with United World Schools. This year’s event, held on Saturday, 21 November, was a great success, with enthusiastic participation from our community.
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed a range of games and activities, including VR machines, basketball, Just Dance, sugar people making, face and body painting and more. A special collaboration with one of our art CCA providers saw the community decorating a beautiful cello in the theme of the evening, a Starry Night, which will now be donated to the College to be put on display as a reminder of the fantastic evening.
The night’s entertainment kicked off with a range of student and parent performances, from piano and flute solos, duets, a quartet, and dance routines. The guests were then treated to a special parent and student fashion show organised by the Friends of Dulwich.
The children revelled in the Mad Science performance, then kicked off their shoes to compete in the Just Dance competition hosted by an official Just Dance dancer from Ubisoft. What a treat!
Of course, the night ended with a raffle draw with amazing prizes on offer, and an auction of student artwork. Proceeds of these will contribute to our efforts to support Veal Reyoung school in Cambodia, the school we fund through our partnership with United World Schools. In total, we raised close to 30,000RMB for this charity throughout the night, with the final tally still going on. This is an amazing achievement and a huge step towards our 80,000RMB annual fundraising goal for this initiative.
