From story tellers to story writers

This week Dulwich College Puxi welcomed back British author, storyteller and academic, Mr Adam Bushnell to work with teachers from across Dulwich schools, training them with techniques to amplify classroom resources to bring story telling and writing to life among their students. The week started with such wonderful creative buzz as a result!

Adam spent everyday in each of our classes in DUCKS (Kindergarten) and the Primary School, working alongside our teachers to enhance our youngest students’ love of story telling. They introduced extraordinary experiences and crazy situations to stimulate students’ ideas and encourage their imagination ito fuel their stories.

To further enhance Adam’s story telling and story writing workshops, students had visits from ducks and baby chicks, attended lessons on the school roof for a fresh perspective, encountered Viking blow horns. Our pupils took experiential writing trips to different settings to spark their creativity; the Shanghai zoo, an organic farm, and an ancient tea house and garden… all in the name of story telling.

Adam also hosted our most well attended parent workshop to date: sharing his ideas with on how to use bedtime stories as a way to develop your child’s story writing potential, and promote fantastic language development.

What was a superb week!
