Back to School! A Community Together Again!

Welcome Back, Mustangs!

On 1 September, Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi students returned to school after the long summer break. After much anticipation, the students are finally back in their familiar surroundings. It is so great to see them back on campus, catching up with friends and making new ones. The school is once again alive with their laughter and joy.

Last week, in preparation for the new school term, students and their parents visited our Uniform Week, eagerly preparing their new gear. For some, they were simply picking up a few new bits and pieces in order to be fully prepared for school. For others, as they moved into new and exciting phases of the school, it was time to adapt to changes, such as learning to tie a tie. Regardless, Uniform Week is always a sign that the new school year is just around the corner.

In addition to preparing their new uniforms, students also had an opportunity to attend our visiting book fair; enjoying their favourite pastime, reading, while also helping raise money for the school that The College has pledged to supporting in Cambodia, Veal Reyoung school. The Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi community has pledged to raise GBP8,000 per academic year to fund the running costs of Veal Reyoung school, giving the gift of education to another community. As a result of our Uniform Week Book Fair, our community has already made a great start to this year's fundraising efforts.

Of course, this day was not just about returning students. For the 2020-2021 academic year Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi has seen a record number of new families join our community. Drawn to our world-class holistic education, state-of-the-art facilities, caring community, inspiring educational philosophy, clear values and rigorous academic provision, these new families arrived on campus eager and ready to begin their Dulwich journey. Many of these families have had to endure uncertainty and quarantine periods prior to the school year, so the College team have been sending home care packages to each new family; keeping up their spirits and giving the children some resources to keep them active.

What better way to start the academic year than with Community Singing. A weekly tradition at Dulwich College Shanghai Puxi, the morning started with a recital of the school song, followed by a range of familiar songs to get the children in chorus and warmed up for the year ahead.

We are certainly excited about what the 2020-2021 academic year has in store. Join us in making it a year to remember.
