We are the music-makers and we are the dreamers of dreams

We are the music-makers and we are the dreamers of dreams.

On Thursday, 17 June we experienced another momentous occasion in the College calendar – the Junior School production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, a musical based on the book by beloved children’s author Roald Dahl.  And what a treat it was indeed, leaving the audience spell-bound, and asking for more.

It takes a huge amount of practice and dedication to bring together dramatic expression, comic timing, high energy dancing and musical interpretation, and our main cast didn’t miss a beat as they carried the audience through the highs and lows of the story.

Congratulations those students who took on a lead role in the play, as well as the many other students from Year 3 all the way to Year 6 who starred.

While they were busy shining on the stage, it is important to remember that productions are the combined effort of a wider team, and the sets, costumes, lights and stage were all managed by an incredible back-stage team of students. Well done to those tech-crew students. Without your organisational skills and ability to collaborate under pressure, the show would not have been a success.

All of these components come together to provide an experience which is fundamental to a Dulwich education – regular opportunities to perform on stage to a professional standard.  Thank you to our Directors Ms Marsh and Miss Hill, and our Musical Director Ms Knox for their flair, creativity and drive.

Finally, thank you to all of the parents who worked hard at home to prepare all of our children for their performances.  We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did, and have as many lasting memories as our children.
