David Brown
IB Coordinator, English Teacher
David Brown has nearly two decades of experience in international education in Asia. David has a BA in Journalism & Communication Studies and an Honours BA in Applied Linguistics, and a Master of Philosophy in English Literature from The University of Hong Kong, as well as postgraduate certification focused on language learning and teaching.
Outside of his work with the IBO, where David has been an MYP and is now a DP Coordinator as well as an English and Theory of Knowledge teacher, David spent the bulk of his professional life in Hong Kong, working with the Education Bureau developing programmes for literacy and computer-enhanced language learning, a field which has also seen David collaborate with the Ministry of Education in Singapore, and then lecturing at the Education University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, David taught in international school settings in Thailand and Taiwan.
David’s passion for photography has led to his work being published in National Geographic Traveler, amongst other magazines. When he’s not playing guitar at home, he can be found developing python programs or reading, and as a keen cyclist he is often found training or touring in Shanghai and its surrounds.
